Description
This is an outstanding 19th Century Laguna Native American Indian polychrome painted pottery piece noted as being an Ink Well from the Sundog Bruce VanLandingham collection. The piece is marked on the bottom, “Laguna Ink Well 19th Cent.” The piece shows a polychrome painted finish in a cream, red / brown and brown. The top has a chip to the rim and the paint shows some loss. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and acquired by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. Measures 2.5”H by 2.5”W.
