Description
Featured in this lot is this 1885 "Man In Cabin" cast iron mechanical coin bank made by J.E. Stevens. The coin bank shows a man standing in the door way of his red and yellow colored cabin wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and yellow pants. The cabin shows a banjo and a broken window on the left side and a broom, a beaver hide, skillet and a broken window on the right side. When a coin is placed on the roof, and you pull the broom lever, the man flips upside down and kicks the coin into the storage compartment. The bottom of the cabin features a twist cap to then empty the coin container. The bottom is stamped and reads, "Pat'D 1885 June 2" showing that the design was patented on June 2nd, 1885. The coin bank shows good condition with fading and chipping to the paint but is still in good working condition. It measures 4 1/4" L x 2 7/8" W x 3 5/8" H.
