Featured in this lot is this rare unfinished, Litening Gasoline license plate topper circa 1930s. Litening Gasoline was produced by the Yale Oil Corporation in in Miles City in 1928, then expanded to Billings, Montana in the 1930's. The sign shows a yellow background with a thin white line bordering the entire license plate topper. In the middle of the sign it reads, "Litening" in red lettering and below that reads, "Exclusively!" in red lettering with a white outline. In the bottom left hand corner it shows an unfinished hat with a red top. These license plate toppers, when finished, showed more detail, lettering and coloring to the entire piece. The company never fully sent this license plate topper into production as they were too expensive to produce. This is a very rare, unfinished piece of Montana history! The topper shows good condition with no signs of obvious damage and slight wear and small chipping to the paint. The topper measures 6 1/2" L x 14" W.
