Description
This is a unique and interesting piece, a 19th Century stove top hat which shows a feathered brow band feathered headdress and other adornments from the Kiowa Native American Indians of the Southern Plains. The headdress brow band shows a red woven band with blue plume feathers, having a blue dye coloring. The top of the hat shows 19th Century brass uniform trade buttons bordering the oval top. At the center of the top is tied with Indian tanned hide a long frill drop of blue and red ribbon strands with a single medicine bundle of Indian tanned hide. This is truly a wonderful antique example with nice patina. Displays well. Beaver felt top hat. 12"L by 10.5"W by 8"H. The ribbon fringes measure overall 23"L.
