Many posters were created to promote the conservation of materials, such as metal, rubber, and rags, as well as food. This poster from 1945 promotes the work of the local OPA ration board that enforced and created ration rules. Food rationing was an important aspect of the WWII era and each citizen was encouraged to do their part in helping in the allied war effort. Nutrition was also emphasized in connection to staying healthy in order to contribute to production. The message of frugality in one's eating became not only a national goal but an aspect of life for many that had a lasting effect on the Depression era generation.
