Description
Josef Carl Klinkosch (Austrian 1822-1888). Large 19th century centerpiece/jardiniere in 800 silver having extensive floral repousse decoration throughout. Removable silverplate liner. Well marked for C. Klinkosch. Approximately 46 troy ounces, not including the liner.
Josef Carl Klinkosch was a highly respected skilled Viennese silversmith, who flourished in 19th Century europe. The son of the silversmith, Carl Klinkosch apprenticed at his father’s workshop from 1835 until 1839. He became a certified silversmith in 1844, taking over his father’s business in 1851.
In 1864, he formed a partnership with Stephan Mayerhofer and the pair began trading as mayerhofer & klinkosch. The company participated in the viennese world exhibition of 1873, and later, the parisian exposition universelle in 1878; at both events the firm won numerous silver and gold medals. From 1855 he held the imperial warrant to the court of emperor franz josef of austria. Piece is marked for c. klinkosch. Silver weight - approximately 46 troy ounces, not including the liner.

PAYMENT
Invaluable: All invoicing over $5,000 must be paid via wire transfer. Overseas Payments are to be made via Wire transfer. Payments for jewelry, watches, and silver must also be made via wire transfer. Live Auctioneers: All Invoicing over $5,000 will be paid through ACH or Wire Transfer. Items will not be released until payments are cleared. Credit card transactions are subject to a 3.1% fee. We do not accept credit card transactions over the phone.
INVOICING AND HOURS
We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Invoices will be sent out on Wednesday morning after the auction. Pick-up is available by appointment only from Wednesday to Sunday, between 11am-4pm.

The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Condition information is available upon request, no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is," and COLLECTive Hudson will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting, and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
