Description
DESCRIPTION: Wood sewing kit (etui or necessaire). Metal clasps to top of box and mirror inside lid. Three separate sections of supplies, one of which is stacked above the other. Includes five bottles, a thimble, a needle case, a stiletto, three brushes, and more. Also includes original seller's label from Hart's Fancy Stationary in Pennsylvania. C. 1830s to 1850s. MEASUREMENTS: Box 8-3/8" wide x 5-5/8" deep x 3-3/8" high. CONDITION: Small hole at top of box. Loss of wood to bottom left corner of back and bottom right corner of back lid. Chip from top right corner of back repaired. Light corrosion and wear to pieces. Includes original key and locks and unlocks, but with some difficulty.
