Description
Ca. early to mid 20thC. Ituri/Ndaaka/Beke/Kumu mask with palm fiber hair/beard; square eyes and mouth. Very good, with age-appropriate paint loss and wear, apparently unintended gash in right eye (see photos). Reffered to as Iturri mask in Mr. Nooters notes. Not including raffia or stand the mask measures approx. 10 1/2" high. Purchased from Tad Dale 2007; Receipt with photo (From a colonial Liege, Belgium Collection); Earlier sold by Leonard Kahan, and published in the book Surfaces published in 2009 by the Indiana University Press, shown in Plate 62.
