circa 1978; carved and decorated on one side with black lacquer overlay on a gilt, with silver and red; the verso in black lacquerEach panel: 94 x 18 in. (238.8 x 45.7 cm.) Provenance: Property from the personal collection of Jeff Schuerholz of Fat Chance, the iconic Los Angeles store for the Hollywood elite. Note: Jeff Schuerholz spent close to 50 years serving Los Angeles, from pioneering Melrose to developing the Los Angeles fixture that was Fat Chance. His connection to the stars, "including David Bowie, Jocelyn Wildenstein, and everyone in between,? generated enthusiasm and started new trends in the design world. Schuerholz says his ?dream as a kid was always to do something that would involve people from all over the globe.? Fat Chance could be seen in dozens of Hollywood movies over the past four decades, including "Dreamgirls."
Condition
These rare Karl Springer Screens are almost impossible to find, one of the best conditioned Springer screens to come to market. A shallow chip to lacquer at upper edge of farthest left-hand panel (approximately 1/2 x 1/4 inch.) Approximately 12-15 tiny chips to lacquer scattered throughout. A few scattered scratches and areas of very minor rubbed wear. Hinges in good condition. A few areas of light scratches and minor craquelure to verso.
