A Chinese black-ground silk table cloth
19th century
With damask dragons and koi fish; black tassels bound with lucky coins to each corner.
H: 52 1/2, W: 12 1/4 in.
H: 133.35, W: 31.11 cm.
Provenance: Ms. Sherman, Colorado. The collection was inherited from her grandfather, John H. Reisner. Mr. Reisner went to Nanjing in 1914 and stayed until 1928. Mr. Reisner was an agriculture expert from Cornell University and went to Nanjing to help setup the agriculture department at Nanking University. These items were collected during the time Mr. Reisner was in China.
