Description
14kt Amethyst Cluster Ring, Size 10, 6.60 grams. 2 TCW with a mix of stone shapes. 9 total amethysts. Signed STS. Deep purple. The main center stone is a large marquise stone that is appx. 9.5mm by 4.5mm; there are six pear shaped stones surrounding that stone with the point to the pear facing out like petals - they are appx. 4.5mm by 3.5mm; and there are two round stones on either side that are appx. 2.8mm. The stones cannot be accurately measured due to the setting however I am confident the total carat weight is at least 2 carats. The ring is a size 10. The band is split as it starts at the base of the stones and then forms a 6.6mm solid band with a decorative design and tapers down to 1.7 mm at the back of the finger. The setting on top isi appx. 16.8mm from side-to-side and 16.4 mm as it goes down the finger. Amethysts are the easiest stones to grow in a lab to the point that when this occurred it drove down the price of amethysts. It takes very expensive equipment (like GIA has) to take all the internal measurements of the stone to verify that it is a natural amethyst. You cannot tell by magnification unless there is the rare inclusion in the stone as amethysts by their very nature are clean and clear stones. The stones look dark purple but if enough light is passing through them, they will pick up other colors and look like it is color changing but that is only when the light is passing through the stone and the stones can pick up other colors in the surroundings. when you are wearing it, the top of your finger stops that from occurring but when holding it to a light, especially if browns or yellows are in the vicinity, you will see the dual color - this is not a true color changing stone. I just mentioned this in case the buyer sees it and thinks it is. This ring looks new. It is in very good condition. See photos. This came from a PA estate sale. See photos. (Lot. Loc. W2.219.G.13X3 - LD 2/11/19).
