Inscription: Monogrammed on the right below the image. Inscribed on old backing with the names of the sitters. "2 Augustin / Queen Louise"

Description: Charming depiction in delicate shades of Queen Louise (1776 Hanover - 1810 at Hohenzieritz Castle), known as Queen Luise of Prussia, with Auguste of Hesse, later Duchess of Cambridge. From the artist's estate. The Swiss draughtswoman and writer Herminie Chavannes (1798 Vevey - 1853) was active in Vevey and Lausanne in the mountainous canton of Vaud, which borders Lake Geneva to the south and France to the west. She also had a reputation as an illustrator and worked for the "Revue suisse" around 1830. The Musée historique de Lausanne owns about 20 sheets by her, which particularly show views of Lausanne as well as depictions of workplaces of famous personalities such as Frédéric-César de La Harpe and Alexandre Vinet (around 1847).
