Christian Rothgießer (17th century): Allegory of rest, "Surge age, et in duris", 18th century, Copper engraving
Technique: Copper engraving on Laid paper, mounted on Paper
Inscription: Lower left in the illustration with artist's monogram "C. R. f.", titled in the lower margin "Surge age, et in duris haud unquam defice, coelo Mox aderis, teque astra ferent". Inscribed at the bottom of the backing by another hand with further information on the engraver "Buchillustration Olearins Ausgabe der Belingschen Vergilübersetzung 1649 "in Kopenhagen circa 200 Blätter".

Condition
Good condition. The paper is slightly creased in places. The image makes a very good impression. The sheet is foxed and browned, with small spots in the margins in places.
