Description
PISTOL. Cal. 69. NSN. Butt cap is engraved “Lt. R.P.F./Battalion Orleans”. 1st Lieutenant & Adjutant R. Prosper Foix fought under General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans, Jan 8, 1815. Bbl. 11 1/2” w/ smoothbore & brass bead front sight. Reconversion lock has partially obscured Dutch marking that may be “Fokken/a Utiecan”? Walnut stock has a replacement iron band leading to replaced tip section w/ iron nose cap. Replacement wood ramrod. Brass fittings consist of trigger guard, side plate & butt cap. CONDITION: metal has gray brown coloration w/ areas of deep pitting. Stock shows very heavy wear w/ added finish over handling marks having cracks & chips in lock & side plate area w/ a section of replaced wood on right side forward of lock. Entire front section of stock is replacement. Functioning lock. Dark pitted bore. (01-23032/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-4,000.
