Item Details
Description
Audemars Piguet, Finely Preserved and Important Royal Oak Ref. 5402ST "Jumbo" Circa 1989 Case: 39 mm, stainless steel Dial: black Tapisserie dial, luminous hour indices, luminous hands Movement: Audemars Piguet cal. 2121, self-winding, 36 jewels Band: Audemars Piguet integrated bracelet, fits up to a 6 3/4 inch wrist Signed: Audemars Piguet signed on the dial, case, movement and bracelet/deployant clasp. Lot is presented with service box, as well as service card/USB that dates to 2016. Audemars Piguet produced the Royal Oak reference 5402ST in low quantities in the 1970's into the late 1980's. of the various Series produced(A through D, as well as certain "Non-Series"), the "D" series was produced in the smallest volume, with only about 404 watches having being sold from 1978 to 1989. Interestingly enough, of the accepted numeral range of 1,000 to 1,500 appropriate for the D series, the highest previously discovered serial number was D1410, presumably the only D series 5402ST to have sold in the Series' final production year, 1989. The present example, bearing serial number D1411 is the largest serial for the D series now publicly known. Now consigned by the original owner who purchased it in 1989, the present 5402ST furthers the reference's scholarship and would make a phenomenal addition to any Audemars Piguet enthusiast's collection.
