Yousuf Karsh (1908-2002) was a Canadian photographer known for his portraits of famous individuals. Born in Armenia, Karsh immigrated to Canada as a child and began his photography career in Ottawa, where he established his own studio. He gained recognition for his portrait of Winston Churchill, taken in 1941, which became one of the most famous photographs of the 20th century.
