8vo. Frontispiece of Botticelli’s Primavera. Original printed wrappers in red and black, uncut and unopened (spine sunned); original glassine (chipped near ends).
FIRST EDITION of Lorrain’s second book, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR to Marcel Schwob (1867-1905), a notable French writer. Lorrain, author of many short stories that depicted his characters as drug addicts, was also a drug user often writing under the influence. He began experimenting with morphine and later moving on to drinking ether. It is said that when his grave was opened in 1986, the body still reeked of ether. Talvart & Place 2. A Horowitz high spot.
