Note: Ivan Augustovich Veltz was a Russian landscape painter of Austrian origin who captured the beautiful landscapes of the Russian countryside. Veltz attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg before joining the Petrograd Society of Artists and Kuindzhis Society. As follower of The Wanderers artist movement, Veltz hoped to move away from the strict restrictions of the Academy to paint the landscapes of the countryside with a new sense of realism. Most notable for his sweeping landscapes, Veltz traveled throughout Russia and Eastern Europe, depicting nature with almost mystic qualities.
