Teapot and Bowl,
possibly Tucker Porcelain Factory (1826-38), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1830.
White-bodied porcelain objects with gilding and floral garlands painted in yellow, purple, blue, orange, and pink enamels, including an eight-inch footed bowl and an urn-shaped teapot on pedestal base with locking lid, handle with molded acanthus leaf spur, and a zoomorphic spout, unmarked, teapot, 20cm wide, 10cm deep, 20cm high (8in wide, 4 1/2in deep, 8in high).
Condition
Both pieces have imperfections in clay and glazing. A scar is visible in the cavetto of base, which is inscribed '23' underneath. Small chip observed in edge of teapot base, surface residue on handle and around base at interior. Gilding is very well preserved except on the knop finial of lid, with notches conforming to a ledge in the flaring teapot rim.
