Description
South Carolina, 1760-1780, documented by MESDA (and with label remnants), mahogany with cypress and ash, highly figured molded top opening to a baize lined playing surface, figured skirt and molded legs with pierced corner brackets, 28-3/4 x 33-1/2 x 16-3/4 in.
Provenance: MESDA files record the table is from Hampton, and was purchased by current owners from the sister of Archibald Rutledge (see file S-9093); Private Collection
Condition
very good condition overall, knee brackets replaced, lacking interior hidden drawer, minor warping to top, fading and distress to baize playing surface, top with minor repaired edge crack, some minor sun fading, minor face patch at top of one rear leg
