Description
A cased set of Victorian fruit servers by the cutlery company "Brookes and Crookes" of Sheffield, England. Decorated in an ornate grapes, leaf and vine pattern, the set consists of two large serving spoons, pierced bowl laddle and grape scissors. Housed in leather covered case with velet liner and displaying the Company Name and Bell Logo. Largest spoons are 8 3/4 in. long, pieces are cast metal (white metal?) with silver wash, unmarked other than on the case. The case itself is 10 in. x 7 in. 2.25 in. The Brookes and Crookes Company was founded in 1858 by John Brookes and Thomas Crookes. They specialized in various types of cutlery. The company in some form continued through family into the twentieth century.
