Renaissance Revival Carved and Parcel-Gilt Rosewood and Repousse Copper Center Table
Pottier & Stymus, New York, late 19th century
The top with classical scenes in repousse copper border centering an inlaid panel with chariot on a gilt-incised apron with eight inset porcelain portrait plaques on scrolled legs continuing to hoof feet on casters and joined by an elaborate stretcher centering an urn. Height 30 1/2 inches, width 51 1/2 inches, depth 34 1/2 inches.

Provenance: The Stewart Collection, offered at auction in March, 1887, by the American Art Association, New York. Descended in the family of the family of Judge Henry Hilton, executor for Mrs. Stewart, to his daughter, then to her husband, then to a private collection.
