Notes/Literature: The type of scrolling foliage and floral marquetry typical of Spanish Colonial Furniture, illustrated by a 17th Century shell-encrusted so-called mueble enconchado with related marquetry, was offered as a wedding gift to the granddaughter of one of the Viceroys of Peru, sold Sotheby's New York, 21 May 1992, lot 79.
