EDMUND H. GARRETT, (Massachusetts/New York, 1853-1929), Oil/Canvasboard, LATE AFTERNOON, NAHANT, 16 inches x 20 inches, framed in silvered wood 24 inches x 28 inches overall. Signed Edmund Garrett lower left, and titled Late Afternoon-Nahant, verso. Nahant, MA is a small village on a peninsula northeast of Boston. Edmund Henry Garrett was a prolific painter and illustrator, having studied at the Boston Art Club. He was a friend of Childe Hassam and was the influence for Hassam’s first trip to Europe to study art. Garrett studied art in France at the Academie Julian with Boulanger, Lefebvre and Laurens, and traveled to Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain. CONDITION: Excellent, no issues noted.
