Glenn Appleman (American, 20th century). Convertible Car Cookie Jar - glazed ceramic, 1981. Signature, date, and "S14" on underside. An outstanding ceramic cookie jar in the shap of a red convertible car with black and silver "chrome" grill, hood ornament, hubcaps, and trim, as well as white seats. The lid consists of the passenger compartmentand windshield and fits perfectly. Appleman created his car-shaped ceramic cookie jars, all painted in vibrant kiln-fired enamel colors like this fabulous example, from 1977 to 1987. Size: 15.75" L x 9.375" W x 8.375" H (40 cm x 23.8 cm x 21.3 cm)
Provenance: private Goldstein collection, Denver, Colorado, USA. The Goldstein's have amassed their collection over the past six decades.
