Item Details
Description

RIAA Gold white matte 45 award for Redbone single "Come And Get Your Love". This track was released in January 1, 1970 and certified Gold by the RIAA on April 22, 1974 for one million copies sold. Remember Redbone's Lolly Vegas and Tony Bellamy with this award.

The track reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April of 1974 after a promotion push several years after its' initial release. Brothers Pat and Lolly Vegas and their group were billed as the first Native American act to reach the top 10 of the Billboard chart, although the group was composed of both Mexican-American and Native American members. The track gained new popularity after being featured on #1 album soundtrack of the Marvel Studios 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy (it was one of the tracks on main character Peter QuillIn's mixtape).

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold LP award was made in 1974 making it approx. 49 years old. It is presented to Sherry Santifer, who became the first female, African American promotions manager for CBS Records - New York and New Jersey. She also worked with Earth, Wind & Fire, Carole King, Herbie Hancock, The Isley Brothers, Minnie Ripperton, The O'Jays and many others.

The award is in Very Good condition considering its age. There is some standard frame wear. It has a cuts on three sides of the backing paper (taped to help prevent dust intrusion). It does have adhesive residue in the shape, size and location of a New York Frame & Picture Co. sticker but the label is not present.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
