Dennis Stock was an American photographer known for his iconic portraits of celebrities and cultural figures. He was born on July 24, 1928, in New York City and began his photography career in the early 1950s.
Stock's most famous work is a series of photographs he took of actor James Dean in 1955, just months before Dean's death. The images, which captured Dean in candid moments both alone and with friends, have become some of the most iconic portraits of the actor.
In addition to his work with Dean, Stock also photographed other notable figures, including jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday, as well as artists such as Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali.
Stock's photographs have been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, and he has received several awards and honors for his work. He died on January 11, 2010, in Sarasota, Florida, at the age of 81.
