Description
Larry Clark (born January 19, 1943) is an American photographer, film director, writer, and artist. He is best known for his controversial photography and films, which often deal with themes of youth culture, drug use, and sexuality. Clark began his career as a photographer in the 1960s, capturing candid and intimate images of his friends and acquaintances in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His work gained attention for its raw and unflinching depiction of youth culture, including drug use, sex, and violence. In the 1990s, Clark transitioned to filmmaking, directing his first feature film, "Kids," in 1995. The film, which explored the lives of young skateboarders in New York City, was highly controversial for its explicit depictions of drug use, sex, and violence among teenagers. Clark has since directed several other films, including "Bully" (2001) and "Wassup Rockers" (2005), and he continues to work as a photographer and artist. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and he has won numerous awards for his contributions to photography and film.
