Description
Johann Baptist Beha, Black Forest, Germany, intricately carved shelf cuckoo clock depicting hunter and dog within a forest scene, wooden dial with applied numerals, bone hands, 8-day double fusee time and strike wood plate movement
Condition
beautifully carved case in very good and complete overall condition with no apparent loss to any of the carvings, top left with a separation repair in two places, right side wing carvings also with separation repair, case sides and roof are nicely detailed, wood plate fusee movement and wheel trains have an unfortunate coating of a black substance throughout, perhaps a spray product or fire damage, bellow pipes and whistles are replacements and installed to the sides of the case, originally they would have hooked onto the movement, pendulum wire hook and bob a replacement, original applied numerals with repairs at six and seven, carved bone hands appear original with some loss to hour hand, each are painted white and mounted on metal strips for reinforcement, cuckoo bird is likely a later replacement and not consistent with a typical Beha bird of this period, circa 1890
