Attributed to Frances Salazar (1936-2002), Black Santa Clara pottery, water serpent good condition, unsigned, 3.75 x 4.5 x 4.5, Frances Salazar was a daughter of noted potter Flora Naranjo and a sister of Glenda Naranjo and Barbara Martinez. She was the mother of potters Elaine Salazar, Sophie Cata and Yolanda Verde. She learned to make pottery from her mother and over the years won numerous awards for her pottery at events such as Santa Fe Indian Market.
