Description
Rare Costume Color Variant. Made by J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Ca 1880's. The Paddy and the Pig bank plays on racist sentiment against the Irish. Absurdly, it was often suggested that the Irish farmer preferred the company of his pig to that of his wife. This bank seems to drive this repulsive thought home. They are both inebriated and the Irishman rolls around on the ground to regain control of the clever pig. We have never before seen this color treatment used for the Irishman's coat, hat and socks.
