Jean-Pierre Alaux French (1925-2020) mythological surrealist female nude oil on canvas Signed lower right. Biography from the Archives of askART: The work of Jean-Pierre Alaux is at times baroque, fantastical and surrealist. Essentially he works with female characters in landscapes where he checks the mythology in an original way with a totally personal symbolism. After studying in the Superior National School of Fine Arts in Paris (Taller Jean Dupas from 1943 to 1949) he began to exhibit in Salons and Galleries in Paris, Brussels, New York, Boston, New Orleans, etc. He has received numerous awards for painting for those that he stresses in the Grand Prix des Peintres Temoins de leur Temps, 1974. He was named Official Painter of the Marina in 1975 and Painter of Air and of Space in 1992. Also he was named Gentleman of the Legion of Honor as Painter and Sculptor in 1989. Other recognitions include: 1949 - First Prize of Posters du Faubourg St- Honoré "The Fables of La Fontaine"; 1949 - Silver Medal Exhibition of French Artists; 1950 - Award Posters Faubourg St- Honoré and Spring: "Tribute to Love" and "The Charm of Paris"; 1950 - First Prize at the International Competition "Portrait of Jennie"; 1951 - Gold Medal Exhibition of French Artists; 1955 - Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts; 1963 - Great Silver Medal of the City of Paris; 1970 - Prize for Cultural and Artistic Merit; 1972 - Price Puvis de Chavannes; 1974 - Grand Prix Painters Witnesses of Their Time; 1975 - Appointed Painter of the Navy (Department of Defense); 1979 - Prize of the City of Yokohama; 1980 - Grand Prix de l'Orangerie of Versailles; 1981 - Prize of the Taylor Foundation; 1989 - First Prize, Salon Chess, Le Havre; 1989 - President of the Salon d' Angers; 1989 - Issuance of Fluoroscopy Jacques Chancel "Jean -Pierre Alaux and Alaux dynasty"; 1990 - Award for Sculpture, Caen; 1993 - Grand Prize for Painting, Mairie of the Tenth Arrondissement, Paris; 1993 - Appointed Painter Air and Space (Ministry of Defence); 1999 - Elected Vice -President of the Official Painter of the Navy; 2000 - Vermeil Medal of the City of Paris.
