Emma Rivers (American, 1966-) Painted Collage Coffee Table. Signed Emma Rivers 2007. Measures 18 inches high, top measures 32 inches long, 32 inches wide. Acquired from Nile Southerns home in Sag Harbor NY, Nile is the son of the author Terry Southern and Carol Southern, family friends of the Rivers. Emma is the daughter of Larry Rivers. Her tables were sold at Henri Bendel’s in New York City. In good condition.
Emma Rivers is an American contemporary artist born in 1966. She is the daughter of the renowned American artist Larry Rivers. Rivers received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Parsons School of Design in 1988 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Yale University School of Art in 1991. Her artwork has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums across the United States, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and the Portland Museum of Art in Maine. Rivers' work often explores themes related to identity, memory, and nostalgia, using a variety of media including painting, drawing, and printmaking. The recent work of artist Emma Rivers, a series of dollhouse sculptures depicting Rivers' childhood memories called the Stage-Set series depicting her childhood life with her mother, sister, and famous father, the late artist Larry Rivers, connect in such an immediate and intense way.
