Henry William Corbould, known as H. W. Corbould, was an English artist born in 1911. He studied at the Royal College of Art in London and went on to become a prolific painter and illustrator, working in a variety of mediums including oils, watercolors, and pen and ink. Corbould became known for his depictions of rural and coastal scenes, often featuring traditional English cottages and landscapes. His work often exuded a sense of tranquility and calmness, as he sought to capture the beauty and simplicity of the English countryside. In addition to his paintings, Corbould was also a talented illustrator, creating illustrations for various books, including works by Charles Dickens and Shakespeare. He was a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and his work was exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the UK. Corbould passed away in 2005 at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful and evocative paintings and illustrations.
