Born in Leningrad in the family of a sailor, captain of the Baltic Fleet, amateur artist Sergei Ivanovich Bogomolov and housewife Vera Ivanovna. After school, he studied at the Leningrad Military Transport Academy. At the same time he was engaged in a theater studio at the Palace of Culture named after S. M. Kirov .
