Produced for the 1966 Family Dog production of Big Brother & The Holding Company at the Avalon Ballroom. ”The central image is a photograph of the face of the actress/movie star Gloria Swanson covered with a lace veil. This 1924 Edward Steichen portrait of Swanson with her large round eyes and mysterious stare is a perfect example of what was considered a beautiful, captivating woman in the late 1920‘s and early 1930‘s, which is exactly why Mouse and Kelley chose it. The continuing allure of this photograph of Swanson is demonstrated by the fact that in 1996 Bram Dijkstra chose it for the cover of his book Evil Sisters: The Threat of Female Sexuality and the Cult of Manhood.” King, FD-30-OP-1. ”
