Description
Near East, Sasanian Empire (also Sassanian, Sasanid), ca. 2nd to 7th century CE. A disc-shaped bronze stamp seal, pierced laterally for suspension, bearing on its face an incised image of a king in profile with long hair, a beard, and a tall crown. Incised characters, now worn and difficult to read, are at the sides and crescent moon is above the king's head. A loop through the undecorated back allowed this seal to be worn on a necklace or belt. Size: 1.45" diameter (3.7 cm); 1.55" H (3.9 cm) on included custom stand.
