Description
Charcoal with white crayon on paper. Signed. Dimensions: 25" x 19". Framed under glass. Marianetti produced some of her most accomplished charcoals, such as Ballerina, when she attended the Arts Student League from 1936 – 1939. One of her NYC roommates was studying dance, offered Marianetti a ready ballerina model for her renderings. Her charcoal and white crayon works pay homage to fellow Art Student League students such as Paul Cadmus who were celebrated for their fine drawing techniques in charcoal, pencil and pastel. Marianetti’s figure work was very advanced after her RISD training before she entered the ASL and she would go onto to a long and productive art career painting and exhibiting her work. In addition to charcoal, Marianetti was distinguished for her exacting technique and refinement of the egg tempera medium, a tribute to the early Renaissance artists. Her realistic approach transcends to a worldly realm that leaves viewers with the impression of a super real or magical mysticism. The artist garnered critical reviews from the Providence Journal, New York Times and Fort Worth Star. She is listed in Who Was Who in American Art.
