This stunning example of Yamaha's cult 'Sixteener Special' was purchased by the current owner in 2004, since when it has been kept in dehumidified storage. From September 2022 to February 2023 the machine underwent extensive, professional recommissioning by Geoff Kernahan. In the business since the 1970s, Geoff recently retired from his motorcycle sales and repair shop, and now works on recommissioning and restoring selected early Japanese classics. The rebuild involved sourcing many new parts, including the wiring harness (see detailed recommissioning letter). According to the vendor, after a brief road test of 7 miles this little Yamaha appeared to be running well and with everything working.

It should be noted the engine number recorded in the HPI database and V5C is '011670' and not '394-007903' as it appears to the machine, indicating that the engine has been changed. However, both frame and engine numbers are believed correct for Candy Gold examples despite not matching. Restored to 'show' standard and immaculately presented, this beautiful little machine is offered with old/current V5/V5C documents; previous-owner letter; and sundry bills for parts used in the restoration including a new-old-stock zero miles speedometer; re-chromed original mudguards; and some rare and expensive NOS parts including turn indicators, fuel tank (£460), brake pedal and service tool kit.

Also included in the sale is the original speedometer (reading 17,495 miles) and Ignition and steering lock keys are present (x2 each).
