Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian painter known for his decorative and erotic paintings that were influenced by Art Nouveau and Symbolism. He was born in Vienna and studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. Klimt's art is characterized by its lavish use of gold leaf, ornamental patterns, and sensual female figures. He co-founded the Vienna Secession movement, which sought to break away from traditional academic art and embrace new artistic styles. Klimt's works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Belvedere in Vienna and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is considered one of the most important artists of the Viennese Secession.
