(Japan, 1930s) A Betty Boop celluloid wind-up nodder with original box. Made in Japan in the 1930's, she retains a tax/import stamp on her back. The 6.5" celluloid figure with separate head and counterweight is attached to a 2.5" diameter painted metal base. It was designed with a rubber band attached to the head and running through the base. When wound the head would nod back and forth. The band has deteriorated with age but can be replaced. The head moves freely on its own when the counterweight is pushed. In very good working condition with slight wear from age. The 2.5"x2.5"x7" box is in good condition with wear overall, oxidation to the staples, and chipping to the edges of the label.
