A Collection of Faux Scrimshaw Walrus Tusks

Item Details

Description

Continental, 20th century. These four replica scrimshaw tusks are made of synthetic cast resin and finished with great realism. One is a 16" tusk from the Bark Veronica out of New Bedford Connecticut, with date of 1849. It features a Union shield, birds, ship, and lady, with the words "To my Dear Kathleen." The two smaller are inscribed The Samantha and Daniel Christian and measure 10" each.

The largest is marked The ship of Charles W. Morgan New Bedford and depicts whales, ships, and patriotism. This piece is 21.5" long.

Overall good condition.
