A rare vintage Italian Capodimonte hand painted polychrome porcelain figurine, The Melon Boy, depicting a boy eating a watermelon slice. Circa: 1960s. Designed by Giuseppe Cappe. Mark with a blue ink mark, on the bottom. Capodimonte porcelain is porcelain created by the Capodimonte porcelain manufactory, which operated in Naples, Italy, between 1743 and 1759. Capodimonte is the most outstanding factory for early Italian porcelain, the Doccia porcelain of Florence being the other main Italian factory. Capodimonte is most famous for its moulded figurines. Giuseppe Cappe is widely known as one of the best Capodimonte porcelain sculptors.
