Provenance: Trinity International Auctions, Avon, CT, United States, November 12, 2022, lot 8. Louis Latapie is known for Cubist and mod figurative painting, book illustration. Born in 1891 in Toulouse, Louis Latapie is a painter, illustrator, and decorator. After studying at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris where he took lessons from Jean Paul Laurens, he attended the Académie Julian where he befriended the cubist sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. It was at the Academie Ranson where he discovered the work of Paul Serusier and devoted himself to cubism research in collaboration with Max Jacob and Jean Metzinger. One of the youngest painters of his generation, gifted and receptive to great innovative movements. One of a kind artwork.
