Description
19th c., a silver horse mounted on a square frame from which two coins hang (eight coins missing) total 10.5"h; mounted in wood block
Tupu served as a pin to close a poncho or shawl of an Aymara indigenous person in the Andes.
Collector's note: Purchased in LaPaz, Bolivia in 1940, by and formally in the museum collection of the Traphagen School of Fashion, New York City which existed from 1923 to 1991. The school was well known for it's contribution to the world of fashion. Its museum had a world wide collection of items which served as in inspiration to its students."
