Anonymous (probably American, 19th to 20th century CE). Still Life with Pineapple. Oil and gesso on wood, ca. 1890 CE. A delightful still life painting of delectable fruits arranged with a silver bowl upon a white tablecloth. Comprised of bananas, apples, and oranges as well as a prominent pineapple, the fruitful bounty is portrayed with careful shading and liberal strokes of color, detailing their variety of ripeness and texture, as well as their artful arrangement, which is further highlighted by the empty black background. Note the layered oils that accentuate the pineapple's prickly exterior. Size of painting: 18.6" W x 15.7" H (47.2 cm x 39.9 cm) Size of frame: 26.7" W x 23.5" H (67.8 cm x 59.7 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Some nicks and abrasions to canvas, but imagery is still very clear. Minor chipping to gesso on top periphery of painting, only effecting small areas of the background. Set in a wood frame with slight loosening of corners and suspension wire on verso for display. Nice pigments and texture of oils.
