Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi Pueblo / Navajo, ca. mid-20th to early 21st century CE. A hand-carved wooden figure of a Hopi figure dressed in traditional calf high boots, tunic, and robe draped over the left shoulder. The hair is pulled back in a twisted knot style known as a chongo at the nape of the neck, with a blunt fringe. Carved like traditional kachina dolls, this figure is unpainted. Size: 4.25" L x 3" W x 11.5" H (10.8 cm x 7.6 cm x 29.2 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010

Stable fissure across body and head as shown. Gap between wrist and sleeve. Stable fissure on verso of robe. Minor nicks and abrasions.
