East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 906 CE. A fine set of 4 mold-formed pottery tomb offerings including a standing figure and 3 stylized animals. The standing tomb attendant presents wearing an ankle-length robe, holding both arms in large sleeves across the slender abdomen, and staring outwards with slightly downcast eyes. Remains of yellow and coral pigment are visible across the figure. Included with the figure are a trio of recumbent creatures: a ram with a raised head and a pair of curving horns; a bulky cow or bull sans horns; and a sleeping dog with drooping ears and a slender snout. Size of largest (tomb attendant): 2.1" W x 8.7" H (5.3 cm x 22.1 cm)

Condition
Head of tomb attendant reattached at neck, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Possible restoration to proper right arm. All animals are intact and very good. Each item has softening to some finer details, light encrustations, and fading to surface pigment. Overall forms are visible for each piece.
