Complete 4 volume set, 1956-1958. First BOMSC Edition [Book of the Month Selection], issued one month after the first printing of the first trade edition. Printed form the same plates and identical to the trade edition. The only marking of BOMSC is a tiny dot on the back cover].
Hard boards, original cloth with golden Churchill signature on the front boards, gold lettering on spines; 5.3/4" x 8.1/2"; c.7" shelf space; name and address of former owner on the front endpaper of the first volume [Lt. Col. Wiggins]; 521 + 433 + 402 + 403 pages. Each volume has own Index, illustrated with maps, a little soiling and wear, very good condition.
A History of the English-Speaking Peoples is a four-volume history of Britain and its former colonies and possessions throughout the world, written by Winston Churchill, covering the period from Caesar's invasions of Britain (55 BC) to the end of the Second Boer War (1902).] Churchill basically completed this work in 1937 and finally published 1956–1958, delayed several times by war and his work on other texts.
