North Africa, Sahara, Tuareg People 19th C. Tuareg people known for their talented silversmithing and craftsmanship inhabited a large region of Northern Africa and the Sahara. Their master silversmiths believed silver to be "The prophets metal" and is heavily exampled in their culture as woman do not wear gold at all believing it to be bad luck. Their artistic creations and fine weaponry also often incorporate exotic woods and semi precious stones.
Fine example of a Tuareg master silversmith crafted dagger heavily decorated in lavish classical silver mounts all incised in geometric pattern and scrolling then laid over the tiger stripe patterned wood handle in layers, the base of the sheath and top of the handle also feature matching hardstone agate carnelian, and sheath decorated in carved utilizing exotic turquoise and ebonized dyed leather.
